LG G3 Review: A pixel overdose in a near-perfect package (Video)

g3-review

When the LG G3 was first announced, I wasn’t exactly sure what to think about it. Sure, the G2 was nice and had a beautiful display with some quirky software features, but it wasn’t something I was ever interested in using on a daily basis. I considered it to be nothing more than a mediocre device in a big race. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely a step up for LG, but the G2’s late release put it up against some tough competition in 2013.

Fast forward to the LG G3. Even with its recent announcement and small-scale initial launch, the G3 has captured the attention of many. It’s nothing short of a 2014-standard as far as flagship specifications go, but will the LG G3 be the best smartphone this year? That remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, this is the best smartphone that LG has created thus far….

LG G3: Hands-on and first impressions (video)

article

LG’s G3 is the big shot smartphone on the block and packs high-end specifications much like its competition, but with one big wow factor. The 5.5-inch display found on the G3 has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 giving it a screen density of 538 PPI, and trust us, that’s as beautiful as it sounds. Every inch of the display is crisp and almost looks as if all of the imagery was printed on a thin piece of glass.

This may be the device to buy in 2014, but we’ll let you know in our full review. Find out more about its beautiful QHD display, specifications, and everything else the G3 has to offer in our hands-on and first impressions video below.

Today, LG officially announced its new G3 flagship smartphone and of course it’s coming to America’s big four. The South Korean-made smartphone is set to release sometime this summer and it will ship with a couple of carrier specifics. Sprint will be the only US carrier to offer a gold variant of the handset, so if you’re enjoying emerging hue, you’ll have to ride with the folks in Overland Park, Kansas. T-Mobile and AT&T have confirmed that they’ll both carry the LG G3, with the former boasting an opportunity to win the device before its official release.

LG G3 announcement: Specifications, features, and release date

large05

LG has finally unveiled the upcoming G3. It’s possible that this will be the most leaked smartphone of 2014, but at least all of the specifications and features are official now. Take a look at the full overview below.

LG G3 specs are unofficially official, here’s what you can expect

Screen Shot 2014-05-21 at 8.39.12 AM

According to a PhoneArena tipster, LG has just announced the specifications for its widely leaked G3 flagship set to be officially unveiled on May 27th. Apparently LG held a (not so) secret briefing at a Korean retailer to get everything in order before the big unveiling.

If all of these specs and features make it to every market’s G3, we can definitely expect a monster-status flagship from LG this year. Unfortunately, with all of the leaks surrounding this device, there’s really nothing new here.

LG G3 quick window lockscreen widgets revealed

Quite possibly the worst kept secret in the world of high-end smartphones, the LG G3 can’t manage to stay out of the spotlight. Today’s big leak: lockscreen widgets. These circular pieces of software are set to jive with the G3’s Quick Window cover that leaves just enough space for each item to be displayed. Revealed by @evleaks, it looks like we can expect to see options for a clock, pedometer, text messages and incoming calls.

LG G3 makes unofficial debut in gorgeous leaked press shots

Screen Shot 2014-05-14 at 7.27.56 AM

LG’s unveiling of the G3 is right around the corner, but lately we’ve seen quit a bit of action surrounding this unannounced flagship device. Recently, LG released an official teaser video for the G3, but today we get something that’s a bit more revealing. Full gallery below.

Thanks to a PhoneArena tipster, the world gets a clear look at LG’s upcoming smartphone. In these leaked press shots, the rumored 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution display is front and center with slim side bezels and light LG branding along the bottom bezel. The device appears to be shown in three different brushed metal colors including gold, silver, and black. Let’s just hope this really is brushed metal and not plastic that’s designed to look fancy.

LG posts official G3 teaser video, shows off sleek brushed metal design

Screen Shot 2014-05-13 at 3.20.48 AM

LG has just published a new teaser video for its upcoming G3 smartphone. The video doesn’t reveal much, but it definitely proves that most of the leaks we’ve seen recently were accurate.

According to this epic new video, the LG G3 looks incredibly thin and appears to have a brushed metal design (also leaked in gold), but we won’t know for sure until LG’s announcement. The video teases the G3’s optical image stabilization, referenced only by a moving camera sensor, and concludes with a tag line that reads, “Simple is the new smart” and the official announcement date of May 27th, 2014. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to see here, but the video does provide a look at the smartphone’s thin profile.

Here’s another LG G3 leak, this time in gold

Site default logo image

Gold-LG-G3

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had a pretty good look at LG’s upcoming G3 and while the phone is differentiating itself from its predecessor, the latest purported photos of the device suggests that it’s taking its cues from its competition. Pictured above is a front to back view of a gold G3, yes, gold like the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One. It’s like gold is the new white. Remember a few years back when everyone wanted a white phone because of the iPhone? Sadly, Apple releasing the iPhone 5s in gold appears to be having the same effect on smartphone manufacturer’s today.

LG-G3-Front-Back

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen bits and pieces of the forthcoming LG G3 and today we’ve got another set of pictures of the South Korean consumer electronics maker’s new flagship smartphone. Pictured above are two images with different origins. The front view of the handset comes from Seeko and the backside image was obtained by GSM Arena. While they both appear to be the same device, the phone on the left has a blank plastic backing, suggesting that it could be a prototype.

LG G3 will reportedly launch in gold with a 2K display

lg_g3_gold_packaging

The LG G3 will launch sometime this summer with a gold color option, according to The Verge. While LG has yet to confirm or deny these claims, the company did confirm that its next flagship phone will have a 2,560 x 1,440 display, something that lines up with recent rumors surrounding this unannounced device. While we’ve yet to see an actual shot of the handset, its design is said to be similar to the recently outed LG isai FL.

Lastly, a purported picture of the G3’s retail packaging has hit the web, adding support to rumors of the device sporting a gold hue.

Leaked LG isai FL press photos show ultra thin bezels, possible G3 design

LG-isai-FLshot

This slim-bezel smartphone we have here, is said to be the LG isai FL headed to Japan at some point in the future. The press shots surfaced on Twitter via @evleaks and may hint at LG’s design philosophy for 2014.

This could indicate a possible design format for the Nexus 6 or LG G3. The isai FL features the same backside volume rocker design that was first introduced on the LG G2, but has a body style similar to the Nexus 5. Either way, there’s no way to ignore those beautiful slim bezels.
