15 Google partners are handing out Android “Be together. Not the same.” pins at CES 2015 (Gallery)

Fifteen Google partners are handing out Android pins at CES 2015, meaning that the Mountain View corporation itself is not completely absent from the world’s largest trade show after all.

According to representatives from the partner companies in question, Google sent out several employees to CES booths yesterday to hand out plastic Android mascot stands and hundreds of pins. All of the companies Google has partnered with are showing off Android on their devices in some way here at CES, including Sony, Samsung, Pioneer, Chevrolet, Dell, Hyundai, JVC Kenwood, Razer, Nvidia, Panasonic, Parrot, Intel, LG, Qualcomm, and Sharp.

Squarespace and WordPress become Google Apps for Work partners

Google announced on Monday that Squarespace and WordPress.com are the latest businesses to join the Google for Work Partner Program, meaning that both content management systems now provide integration with the Google Apps for Work suite: Gmail, Hangouts, Calendar, Google+, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, Sites, Admin and Vault.

Google announces ‘Partner’ pilot program to help businesses succeed online using Google products

Google today announced a new pilot program rolling out in Canada dubbed “Google Partners” that will allow businesses to easier connect with experts and advertising agencies on the web. What that really means is Google will hand out a “Google Partner” badge to selected marketing companies that will assist businesses get setup with Google Ads and other Google products to help maximize their success online. Google says the program makes it easier for agencies to access Google resources, training, and support all in one place.

The program is for now open via a new website to Canadian businesses and agencies, but Google says it is interested in rolling it out more broadly in the coming months.

Here’s what Partners will get:

  • Become a Partner: Earn the Google Partner badge to indicate to your current and future clients that you are a trusted Google Partner.
  • Hangout with Google: Join an exclusive Google+ community to receive support from Google specialists and to talk with industry experts.
  • Connect with Customers: When you earn the badge, we’ll introduce you to potential clients through Google Partner Search.
  • Access Exclusive Content: Explore a library of the latest Google-created trainings, case studies, and pitch materials to help deepen your expertise.

New YouTube One channel layout now available to everyone

Last month we told you that YouTube had rolled out its new YouTube One Channel design to a limited number of parter channels, but today the new channel layout is officially available to everyone. You can check out an example of the new layout here. YouTube announced on its Creators blog that all users can now opt in to the new channel design by visiting the One Channel website below:

Check out www.youtube.com/onechannel and click the button at the bottom to get started. We’ll migrate your channel to the new design, and walk you through it. For a limited time, you’ll be able to switch back to the previous design if you like.

Google announces ‘Merch Store’ for YouTube partners

Google has announced some new interesting features for YouTube partners over at The Official YouTube Blog. In addition to announcing the site is now reaching over 800 million visitors per month, they’re also introducing the ‘Merch Store’.

The Merch Store will allow YouTube partners to sell concert tickets, digital downloads, merchandise, or events such as “meetups” directly through their channel. YouTube has also partnered with affiliates to power the merchandise and ticket sales. “Concert tickets and experiences” (and merchandise) will be powered by Topspin, Songkick will take care of concerts, and iTunes and Amazon will handle digital downloads.

While the Merch Store will start to roll out across the globe over the next couple weeks, TechCrunch notes that Google has declined to inform partners of profit sharing percentages. As of yet, they’ve only confirmed they will take “a small percentage of sales just to cover costs”.

Google committed to GoogleTV, bringing on more partners

Reuters is reporting that during the Edinburgh television festival, Eric Schmidt said Google is bringing on more partners to help expand their Google TV platform. Schmidt explained the company’s commitment to the platform, and that bring on more manufacturers would solve problems.

Schmidt sourced the scant availability of a set-top box version to be the reason why Google TV isn’t selling well. He said at the moment, Google TV is designed into televisions, which consumers replace around every 5 years. What about the Logitech Revue, Mr. Schmidt?

Along with new partners, Schmidt said Friday that Google TV would make its way to Europe in the next six months. It looks like Schmidt, and company, are committed to improving Google TV for the long haul.
