While there’s still a lot of confusion around Huawei, the company’s sub-brand Honor is churning out a new set of smartphones. At an event in China earlier today, the Honor 9X and 9X Pro went official. Here’s what you need to know.
The Honor 20 is the latest device from the affordable Huawei subsidiary, and while the release has already been rocky due to the dark cloud that seems to be following the Chinese smartphone manufacturer around, it actually proves to be the perfect competitor for the Samsung Galaxy S10e.
We reported recently that the EMUI 9.1 beta is rolling out to a number of Huawei and Honor devices. Huawei has now confirmed that EMUI 9.0 is rolling out to seven more devices with the Huawei Watch GT also receiving an important Always on Display update of its own.

While it may be a terribly tough time for Huawei of late, it’s even tougher in many regards for the millions around the globe that already have the Chinese handsets. That said, despite a short 90-day reprieve from Google, Huawei is pushing an update for their EMUI 9.1 beta which adds 14 more devices to the program.
The fallout from the US Huawei ban and subsequent removal of its Android license by Google is slowly starting to settle. Huawei has now released an official statement confirming that they will “continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products.”
Honor, the affordable Huawei offshoot continues to grow in popularity, interest, and general device quality. That trend looks set to continue as the company has announced a May 21 launch date for its upcoming Honor 20 devices.
The Honor Watch Magic smartwatch is essentially a rebrand of the Huawei Watch GT and at a slightly lower price point. That means it includes a somewhat stripped down experience to help increase battery life, but does stripping it back to basics make for a solid experience?
Even though the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were announced just yesterday with Android Pie in tow, there are two older Huawei-made handsets picking up the update in the form of the Huawei P10 and Honor 8X.

The Honor View 20 might be on the horizon, but that doesn’t mean that the Huawei-owned company has forgotten about the previous model. Far from it, as Android Pie is now rolling out to the Honor View 10 in the United States.
We can’t blame Apple for the notch trend, especially when the fantastic-yet-ultimately flawed Essential PH-1 had the display nodule before the Cupertino tech giant tampered with its own displays.
