Honor 6X goes official with dual cameras & affordable price tag, MediaPad 2 and Watch S1 also announced

Following the success of the Honor 5X, Huawei’s sub-brand has today officially announced the Honor 6X in China (via Fonearena). Just like the Honor 5X, the 6X packs an all-metal build, mid-range specifications, and much more, all at a very affordable price tag.

The Honor 6X comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display up front covered in 2.5D curved glass. On that display, Android Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1, presumably with an update to Nougat coming eventually. Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Kirin 655 processor and up to 4GB of RAM. Three variants will be available including 3GB/32GB, 4GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB.

On the rear, there’s another fingerprint sensor with a dual-camera setup directly above. The primary 12MP camera has slightly larger pixels than average, and the second 2MP camera is used for sensing depth information to create enhanced background blur ─ similar to the HTC One M8. There’s also an 8MP camera up front.

The 6X also supports dual-SIM functionality, has a microSD card slot in the SIM slot, and VoLTE support. Inside there’s a 3,340 mAh battery with fast charging, although it’s unclear if the device has USB C.

Pre-orders for the Honor 6X kick off today in China with sales starting October 25th. Pricing starts at 999 yuan (about $150) for the 3GB/32GB model, and goes up to 1599 yuan (about $240) for the 4GB/64GB variant. In between, the 4GB/32GB variant runs 1299 yuan (about $190). Gold, silver, grey, rose gold, and blue will all be available.

Along with the 6X, Honor has also announced a new Android tablet ─ the MediaPad 2. This 8-inch tablet has a Snapdragon 616 processor and 3GB of RAM with 16 or 32GB of (expandable) storage. LTE and WiFi models are available starting at 999 yuan. It runs Android Marshmallow out of the box and is available in both Gold and White. Pre-orders start tomorrow is China.

Last, the Honor Watch S1 has also been announced with a circular display, a water resistant design up to 50m, and fitness features such as a pedometer and heart rate sensor. The device runs on top of a custom OS which can display notifications. Honor promises battery life up to 6 days. Pre-orders kick off tomorrow in China with pricing starting at 699 yuan, about $100. No international availability has been announced on any of these devices.
