OnePlus announces Loop VR headset, says OnePlus 3 will be “the world’s first global shopping experience in VR”

UPDATE: It happened really fast, but the 30,000 Loop VR headsets are already gone. However, as per Carl Pei, some of the orders placed didn’t go through fully, and pending, missed payments will result in cancelled orders.

If there is a big trend going on now in mobile, that’s virtual reality. Last week at Google I/O, we saw the Mountain View company announcing its new VR-dedicated platform, Daydream, which will be compatible with Android N and a lot of the devices that will come throughout the rest of 2016 and beyond.

One of those phones will likely be the OnePlus 3, which the company’s co-founder Carl Pei today announced will repeat its virtual reality launch with, and will do so with its own newly revealed Loop VR headset…

Quality OnePlus 3 press render leak seemingly confirms full-metal design, AMOLED display

A fresh press render has leaked this morning courtesy of the fount-of-all-leaks, Evan Blass, showing the OnePlus 3 in a much more flattering light than the recent prototype leaks. The image seemingly confirms OnePlus’ move away from the replaceable plastic rear panels, with the company intent on releasing a metal-bodied device.

OnePlus 3 prototype shows up in fresh leaked photos, corroborate previous images

Just days after the first batch of OnePlus 3 leaks surfaced, more have appeared on Chinese social networking site, Weibo. This time, the device is shown completely case-less, with the boot-up screen clearly showing the OnePlus logo.

At this point it seems safe to assume that the third-generation device from OnePlus will indeed be this OnePlus 2/HTC One crossover.

Sketchy OnePlus 3 prototype leak shows HTC-like metal design, familiar front-mounted fingerprint sensor

A collection of photos has landed on Chinese social networking platform, Weibo, showing what is claimed to be the next generation OnePlus flagship phone. While the front looks familiar, and almost identical to the OnePlus 2’s facade, the rear looks far more like something HTC or Huawei would build.
