There’s leaks, and then there’s this. @evleaks has posted a full, rotating render of the HTC M8 Prime. The Prime is rumored to have updated specs and a larger design in order to better compete with the LG G3, rumored Galaxy S5 Prime, and a larger iPhone later this year. The HTC One M8 Mini — talk about a mouthful — is rumored to be on its way to Verizon, if @evleaks on Twitter is to be believed. The HTC One M8 recently launched to a very warm reception, though some critiques did state that the device is difficult to hold due to its large size and slick metallic back.
Essentially no other details are known about the HTC One M8 Mini, though it’s a good bet that it could match its larger counterpart on almost every point. The screen will likely come in at about 4.3″, and may have a 720p display as such. Other than that, it’s it’s likely the Mini will retain the same design, camera, speakers, and internal specs as the One M8.
HTC’s future imaging plans revolve around the selfie market and optical zoom coming to smartphones, according to the company’s camera expert Symon Whitehorn. In an interview with Vodaphone (via Android Central), Whitehorn made various points, including his thoughts on 4K in smartphones, future applications of optical zoom, and the importance of the front-facing camera in the company’s attempt to clench the “selfie market.”

We already got launch details from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint, and now the last of the major US carriers, T-Mobile, has confirmed pricing and availability for HTC’s new One (M8) smartphone.
Unlike the three other carriers which are all already selling the HTC One M8 for $199 on contract, T-Mobile’s version of the device arrives on April 11 through online and brick and mortar locations. It will sell for $0 down and $26.50 per month on instalment plans (a similar financing plan is also offered by AT&T’s and Verizon), which brings the total cost of the device up to $636, slightly less than the unlocked $700 asking price for the Google Play Edition selling through Google.
The reviews of the just announced new HTC One (M8) are officially out, and as of right now, it looks like HTC has a hit on its hands. Reviewers are praising the device’s stunning Gunmetal design, as well as its 5-inch display. Some reviewers, however, aren’t that big of a fan of the highly touted camera, saying its quality is often hit or miss and the software is somewhat clunky.
Like last year’s One, the 2014 edition (HTC is calling it the “HTC One (M8)” but we think that’s ultimately more confusing) is machined from a solid block of aluminum, but it’s even more metal this time. Last year’s had a fair amount of plastic in the edges of the device, but this year it’s pretty much metal everywhere you look. It’s also had some of its sharp edges ground out, and you’re left with a smoother, slightly rounder device. It’s incredibly solid and it feels like it could take a bullet in the back and keep on going (it probably couldn’t, don’t try that, thank you).
A quick public service reminder for all you Sprint fans this morning as the HTC One Max hits store shelves this morning beginning at $149. Unfortunately, the surprise $149 price tag is for new customers only with existing Sprint subscribers forking over $249 for the chance to own HTC’s newest One device.
Following Samsung’s monster profits from yesterday, HTC has now released its unaudited results for Q2 2013 (via TechCrunch). The company reported total revenues of $2.35 billion (NT$70.7 billion) and profits of just $1.63 million (NT$1.25 billion). While the profit is up over the NT$85 million it reported in Q1 2013, it’s still lower than analysts expected and down 83% year over year.
Many were expecting HTC to have a good quarter, as its One flagship is finally available on three major United States carriers and the device was well-received by critics. Sales in May for HTC were up 48.03%, but things nose dived in June, falling 23.88% month-on-month and 26.43% year-on-year.
HTC had hoped that a unified line-up of devices could help it better compete with Samsung, who posted over $8 billion in profit for Q2, but it looks like the struggles for the Taiwanese company are deeper than we thought.

Sprint has been working with Google to expand support for Google Wallet on its devices and has added the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the list of compatible devices.
Both the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are widely considered leading Android smartphones currently so this should create a solid platform of support for Google Wallet.
Google Wallet allows users to make purchases by placing their phones near receivers built for NFC (near field communication) and supports Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

According to Alexa, YouTube is the third-most popular website in the world. According to YouTube, it just reached 1 billion unique monthly users for the first time in history. Some of the accomplishments YouTube is boasting on its blog include the fact that 1 in 2 people on the Internet view YouTube and viewership is roughly Super Bowl audiences. What does a billion people tuning into YouTube look like?
- Nearly one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube.
- Our monthly viewership is the equivalent of roughly ten Super Bowl audiences.
- If YouTube were a country, we’d be the third largest in the world after China and India.
- PSY and Madonna would have to repeat their Madison Square Garden performance in front of a packed house 200,000 more times. That’s a lot of Gangnam Style!
Note: YouTube is trailing Facebook in the Billion-User Club by just a few months.
It’s all but confirmed the HTC One is launching in New York today, but that didn’t stop French website NowhereElse from leaking a press shot of device today. The leak shows both sides of the phone, in both black and white, with a few apps running on the screen. On one phone, a video camera app is running while a photo gallery app seems to be running on the other. The phone in the middle is presumed to be the home screen with what looks to be a new version of Sense. It’s been rumored that Sense 5.0 is going to launch today, and that may in fact be true with this new leak. While the shots don’t seem to be Photoshopped, we’ll be sure of what is announced today, as we will be there live blogging the event at 10 a.m. EST.

Update 2: Engadget spotted the HTC One. The shot is a close up of the back of the device. A red band that adds a nice accent is also shown on the device, but the red band is not shown in the reported press release photos above.
When we told you about the 1-inch x 1-inch Android-powered WIMM Module back in October, the company had plans on launching the device to developers within weeks. Now officially known as the WIMM One Module, WIMM Labs informed developers today the Developer Preview Kit is now available for $299. While it’s mostly pictured in wristwatch form, the company urges developers to come up with micro apps for unique implementations of the device.

From a pedometer that encourages a healthier lifestyle to cross-training sports companions that push athletes past their performance goals. From coffee payments on the wrist to call alerts that keep eyes on the road. We’re also working with Micro Apps for presentation control, home security settings, instant messaging and pill reminders. Our vision extends far beyond a single purpose device.”
The Developer Preview Kit will include one WIMM One Module, a black wrist strap, and a charging kit (paddle charger, USB cable and power adapter). The device itself will offer a number of preloaded micro apps including weather, calendar, clock, alarm, and stopwatch. In addition to the preview kit, WIMM Labs’ commitment to devs includes access to an SDK, emulators, as well as new forums allowing registered developers to upload and share their ideas and apps.
