The tablet includes black, gold, and white colour options, brushed metal sides and what Google calls a “soft grip back.” Other specs listed by Google include an 8.9-inch IPS LCD (2048×1536), 6700 mAh battery, 8MP main camera, 1.6MP front camera, 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 2.3GHz processor, Kepler DX1 GPU, and HTC BoomSound front-facing speakers. The tablet will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants.

Google’s rumored Nexus 9 tablet could be announced as soon as next week. According to Bright Side of News, the reigning internet search champ will unveil its new HTC-made slate on Wednesday, October 15th, along with its $400 asking price. While the tablet is expected to be announced this month, it reportedly won’t go on sale until November 3rd.

HTC exec confirms Nexus 9, says it is the company’s new “commitment” to tablets

Thanks to various leaks over the past few weeks, HTC’s Nexus 9 tablet has been all but confirmed. This morning, though, HTC’s president of North Asia Jack Tong reportedly told members of the press that the Nexus 9 is the company’s “commitment” to returning to the tablet market. This is significant because, despite all of the leaks, HTC has yet to formally acknowledge the existence of the tablet.

The Nexus 9 is definitely happening. Court documents recently confirmed that development of an HTC-made slate is currently underway and according to The Wall Street Journal the search giant decided to go with the Taiwanese firm to prevent manufacturing partners like Samsung from having too much power over its Android platform. When it comes to smartphones, HTC has an impressive resume loaded with high-end devices, but the company has struggled to find a winning formula in the highly populated tablet space.

NVIDIA inadvertently outs Google’s HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet

Rumor has it that HTC is working on a Nexus tablet for Google and it looks a set of legal documents may have confirmed such claims. In a filing from an ongoing patent lawsuit against Qualcomm and Samsung, NVIDIA may have inadvertently revealed Google’s next purebred tablet. In a claim form discussing its Tegra K1 processor, the company stated that an “HTC Nexus 9” is expected sometime within the third quarter of 2014.

The fate of the Nexus line of devices has been up in the air for sometime now due to rumors of the Android Silver program and an LG executive saying that his company had no plans on manufacturing the next Nexus device. Android Police, however, has now published information regarding an upcoming Nexus tablet. According to the report, Google and HTC have teamed up to develop the next Nexus tablet, dubbed the Volantis. The device has an 8.9-inch screen and looks to potentially replace the Nexus 10.
