Samsung Galaxy devices start getting Android 14

By Ben Schoon

Samsung has today officially announced that Android 14 is starting to roll out to its Galaxy S23 series via One UI 6.0.

Android 14 first launched on Google Pixel smartphones on October 4, right alongside the company's new Pixel 8 series smartphones.

Samsung's take on Android 14 brings the platform's own new features, as well as some that are exclusive to Galaxy users. These new features include a lot of camera AI options for one thing.

Also new in One UI 6 is the emoji design, which has been updated quite a bit from past versions of Samsung's Android skin. It's still not the same as you'd find on other Android devices, but some of the designs are definitely better.

The Quick Settings menu on Samsung devices has also gotten an overhaul in One UI 6, with a new design that's a lot more similar to iPhones.

For now, Android 14 and One UI 6 are only officially available to the Galaxy S23 series, though, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung has confirmed that several more smartphones will be updated, including: Galaxy S22 series Galaxy S21 series  Galaxy S20 series Galaxy Note 20 series Galaxy foldables (2020 and newer) Galaxy A54 Galaxy A53

There is one other catch, though. Right now, Samsung's Android 14 update is only available in Europe. Available countries include the UK, Germany, France, Poland, Finland, and a few others. See the full list by swiping up.

But, thankfully, Samsung has confirmed that the update will come to the US "soon." As for when that will be, stay tuned to 9to5Google.com for more information!
