Google switching Chrome to its homemade BoringSSL to make its browser safer

Google has exhausted a lot of resources patching up OpenSSL, so much in fact, the company has elected to create its own fork aptly named BoringSSL. Preparing to move the platform to Chrome, Mountain View recently worked this new implementation into its latest Chromium build. As indicated by its name, OpenSSL is an open source software used for secure connections. Several security holes in OpenSSL recently led to the now infamous Heartbleed scare that worked a large portion of the world into a frenzy.

OnePlus One security bug resolved, first wave of phones finally shipping

Well, that didn’t take too long. After being held up by a potential security risk, the OnePlus One is apparently ready for mass consumption.

“We did choose to delay the shipment of the first phones in order to make sure the software was secure and provided the best possible user experience, a company spokesperson told Android Authority. “The CyanogenMod team worked very quickly and efficiently and the Open SSL issues have already been fixed. The first OnePlus Ones ship to early users with invites as early as tomorrow.”

So, if you’re among the those who ordered a OnePlus One through its early release program, there’s a good chance that could receive your new phone within the next few days. Better late than never, right?

It’s almost impossible to get your hands on a OnePlus One and thanks to a delay, things have gotten even harder. The $300 Android powerhouse was scheduled to launch last month, but its manufacturer hit a bit of a snag that required some additional work. Now without a clear-cut release date in sight, the company’s software partner, Cyanogen took to Reddit to shed a little light on the situation.
