Owners of the super-selfie-shooting HTC Desire Eye on AT&T are about to throw a party. HTC’s Mo Versi has announced on Twitter today that the phone received technical approval yesterday and that the rollout of its OTA to Android 5.0 is to start rolling out today.

I actually own an HTC Desire Eye, and I have yet to see the update hit my device. It’s rolling out in stages over the next couple of days, though, so it probably won’t be long. In other Lollipop news today, Sprint’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge seem to be getting Android 5.1.

Last month, AT&T confirmed that it was going to exclusively carry the selfie-focused HTC Desire EYE and today the carrier announced that it will start selling the device on November 7th for $150 under a two year service agreement. Ma Bell is also pushing HTC’s new smartphone through its Next program for $22.92 per month (20 months) or $27.50 per month (24 months). However, if all of the aforementioned purchase options sound too complicated, you can just buy the handset with no strings attached for $550.

AT&T’s known for snagging exclusive devices and while the carrier’s latest efforts probably didn’t pay off too well, it’s still trying to land the next big thing. Today, Ma Bell announced that it will exclusively offer the recently announced HTC Desire EYE and that it will also sell the Taiwanese manufacturer’s new RE camera. AT&T’s press release was mum regarding pricing and launch dates, only saying that it will carry the Desire EYE later this holiday season and that the RE is expected to follow later this year.
