Pixelbook 2 – Leaks

For the last year and a half, we’ve been tracking a device codenamed Atlas, which we now believe to be the Google Pixelbook 2. In that time, we’ve collected a veritable treasure trove containing all the information you’ll ever need on the in-development device, including leaked images.

Processor – Intel Core i5-8200Y / i7-8500Y
RAM – 16GB
Display – 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio
Camera – 1080p front-facing camera
Storage – eMMC storage

Pixelbook 2 – Release Date

As of right now, we have no firm proof that the device we’ve been tracking for the past year and a half as the Pixelbook 2 is going to be released for purchase. What we do know is that Google has been working on a new Chromebook, codenamed Atlas, which has passed through the FCC twice.

If Google does intend to sell this new Chromebook, we’ll surely see it at the Made by Google 2019 hardware event, currently set for October 15th.

In July, a device hit the FCC that had all the markings of a Made by Google Chromebook, but we couldn’t be 100% sure. This morning, that same device has appeared a second time in FCC listings, all but confirming that it is a laptop-style “Pixelbook 2.”

In the build up to last year’s Made by Google hardware event, we shared our three leading guesses for the in-development devices most likely to be Google’s Chrome OS flagship for 2018. Two of those, “Nocturne” and its failed predecessor, “Meowth”, were accounted for by the Pixel Slate, leaving “Atlas” unexplained. Knowing Google’s recent history with hardware leaks, it was only a matter of time before Atlas revealed itself. The time has come, as leaked two videos purported to be of the Atlas Chromebook have come to light, offering our first glimpse of what could be the next Made by Google laptop.
