Fitbit Luxe announced as premium $150 fitness tracker with color display

Following leaks last week, Fitbit today officially announced the new Luxe fitness tracker. Made of stainless steel, it costs $149.95 and has a new color display with availability set for spring.

The Fitbit Luxe is made of stainless steel using metal injection molding for a bulbous, jewelry-like design that “lightly sits on your wrist with a single surface feel.” It measures 1.43″ x .69″ and is .4″ thick with a “quick-release band attach” mechanism that reflects how the company is selling several “bracelet-like” accessories:

  • Four classic band options: black, lunar white, orchid, or peony for $29.95.
  • Two woven band options: hibiscus or slate for $34.95.
  • Three premium Horween leather double wrap bands: black, earth grey croc, or sunrise for $49.95.
  • Two stainless steel mesh bands: platinum stainless steel or soft gold stainless steel for $79.95.
  • gorjana for Fitbit Luxe Parker Link Bracelet is available in spring in soft gold stainless steel and platinum stainless steel for $99.95.

Three colors are available, starting with a black band and staid Graphite stainless steel. Soft Gold (Lunar White band) and Platinum (Orchid) feature a “high polish, mirror finish.”

There’s a standard heart rate sensor that allows for Active Zone Minutes, Cardio Fitness Score, and sleep stages. It also measures SpO2 (Oxygen Saturation) — though that’s officially listed as “coming soon” — and is water-resistant up to 50 meters. The lack of built-in GPS means tracking requires a paired phone.

The Luxe is Fitbit’s first fitness tracker with a color AMOLED display that’s touted as being 2x brighter than Inspire 2 or Charge 4 and features an ambient light sensor. The Google-owned company touts a “range of colorful clock face designs” with five-day battery life.

Pre-orders for the Fitbit Luxe open today from $149.95, and availability is set for later this spring. A six-month trial of Fitbit Premium ($9.99/month) is included with purchases.
