Verizon’s reputation for pushing out major system updates to its DROID lineup of devices is spotty at best. Some updates come through relatively quickly, others take months to arrive on customer’s devices. That’s the case with 2015’s DROID Turbo 2, which several months after its release on Nexus devices, is finally being updated to Android Nougat.
Android Nougat for the DROID Turbo 2 remains a near stock version of Google’s OS, bringing along features such as multi-window, bundled notifications, new, editable quick settings, and various other tweaks to the UI and features from previous versions of Android.
This update is version number 25.11.1/kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US and brings the December 1st, 2015 Android security patch. It’s also worthwhile to note that this is Android 7.0, not the never 7.1 available on Nexus and Pixel devices.
If you’re using a DROID Turbo 2, head into Settings > About > System Updates to check for the OTA. It should roll out to all users over the coming days.
