Over the past year or so, LG has made a point of improving audio quality with its devices. The LG V10 packed an enhanced DAC, the G5 had an optional DAC module, and last year, the LG V20 packed a 32-bit Quad-DAC, a first for any smartphone. Now, LG says it is bringing that same kind of DAC to its upcoming LG G6.
LG confirmed via its Korean newsroom recently that it would bring a 32-bit Quad DAC designed by ESS to the company’s upcoming LG G6 smartphone. In addition to improved, richer audio quality, LG notes the DAC’s ability to control the left and right earbuds independently to balance sound more accurately.
Of course, this obviously means the G6 will pack a headphone jack, and given the V20’s spectacular sound quality, we have no reason to expect anything less from the G6 when it does release.
Along with the DAC, the LG G6 is expected to bring a nearly bezel-less design, 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 821, 4GB of RAM, and Android Nougat out of the box. We’ll learn more about the device, including pricing and availability details, on February 26th when it goes official.
