Android 7.1.2 available via Android Beta Program today for Pixel, Nexus devices [Update]

Google has today announced that, as it has with the past few Android releases, Android 7.1.2 will be rolling out to members of the Android Beta Program starting today…

What’s new in Android 7.1.2? In a blog post, Google states that Android 7.1.2 is a maintenance release that will bring a number of changes focused on refinements, including bugfixes, optimizations, and a handful of carrier specific fixes.

The beta update is available starting today as a beta for Google’s Pixel devices, including both the 5-inch Pixel and Pixel XL, as well as the Pixel C, Nexus Player, and Nexus 5X. The company is also preparing an update now for the Nexus 6P which it expects to release “soon.”

As with past releases, users can, of course, sideload the update manually, but they can also sign up for over-the-air updates via the Android Beta Program at If your device is already enrolled in the program, it should see the update in the coming days.

Google expects the final release of Android 7.1.2 to be available in the next couple of months and will be available for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus Player, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5X. It’s also worth noting that this is the first release that excludes Google’s Nexus 6 from 2014, which seemingly won’t be updated following the Android 7.1.1 update it received early this month.

Update: We’re seeing this update rolling out to users right now. On the Pixel XL it weighs in at 827.9mb.
