Google Allo has a new chat bot called ‘Lucky’ that sends you GIFs

Google just keeps adding cute features to its new Allo messaging app that are just that — cute. Recently, we’ve seen the addition of Allo themes and Fantastic Beasts stickersChrome Custom Tabs, selfie-generated sticker packs, and more. What better to continue the trend of surface-level features that don’t improve the experience than a new chat bot called “Lucky” that gives you GIFs?

In what is likely a nod to the infamous “I’m Felling Lucky” button on the Google homepage, the new chat bot has a cute emoji-like icon and provies you with GIFs based on what you tell it. For example, if you tell Lucky “I love you,” you’ll probably get a GIF featuring some hearts or something else love-related. To call on Lucky, simply type @lucky in Allo followed by a phrase.

We’re not sure whether or not you have to have the latest version of Allo to get this feature to appear, but it only seems to be rolling out to select few people at the moment. I’m not yet seeing it working on any of my devices — we’ve just received a couple of tips from people who are. If you’re anxious to try it out, I’d recommend making sure you have the latest version of Allo via the Google Play Store.

Alternatively, you can — as always — grab the latest build from APKMirror.
