PSA: OnePlus 3T is now available for immediate shipping

It’s not secret that OnePlus has had a hard time shipping its phones over the years, but today marks one of the brief moments in time when you can actually navigate to the company’s website, click a few buttons, and actually have their newest device ready to ship to your home within a day or two. The OnePlus 3T, in its 64GB Gunmetal variant, is now available…

We’ve called the OnePlus 3T the phone to get of 2016, falling only just a little bit behind the great experience that is the definitely-higher-priced Google Pixel. If you just look at the spec sheets for both phones, it would seem to be a no-brainer that the OnePlus 3T is the phone to buy. And while I might not agree with that conclusion completely, the device is an undeniably great value.

One of the biggest reasons I have reservations about the OnePlus 3T is its software. And that’s actually hard for me to say, because honestly, the OnePlus line of phones have long had way better software than many of their competitors in this price range. But I still can’t get over the phone’s pesky touch latency/scroll latency issue, and there are some software features found on the Pixel and nowhere else.

All this said, the OnePlus 3T is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for a phone that’s super-friendly to the developer community and custom ROMs. None of the things I have complained about should really be considered a downside of the phone, since anything on the software side could/would be easily fixed by installing a custom ROM. And on the hardware side, the OnePlus 3T is a steal.

Head over to OnePlus’ site to grab the device, and we’ll update this article when it — inevitably — sell out again. Going forward, however, OnePlus says its goal is to reduce these shipping problems:

A New Year means a new start. Our goal for this year is to once again deliver the best technology to our community. It’s just as important to do so as fast as possible though, so we’ll be looking to reduce our delivery time. That said, as is the case with all New Year’s resolutions, we can’t expect to get there overnight. That’s why we are going to tackle this goal step by step.
