Samsung kicks off final Android Nougat rollout for Galaxy S7/Edge

Following several weeks of testing, Samsung has today officially kicked off the rollout of Android Nougat for all Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users.

The update, which weighs in at about 215 MB in size (via SamMobile, Android Central), is currently starting its rollout beginning with the customers who were enrolled in the beta program. Beta users will see a system update notification on their device, but the update will download and fully install automatically.

Samsung is skipping over Android 7.0, instead rolling out the newer Android 7.1.1 but without January’s security patch. Just as seen in the beta, Samsung’s take on Android Nougat further cleans up the OS, introduces more elements from Google’s version of Android, and also improves on already included features such as multi-window which now supports almost any app.

The OTA should be available in the coming days for those who didn’t beta test Nougat on their devices, and available for carrier variants in the coming weeks as well.
