Two Google Home devices are arguing and questioning their existence on Twitch right now

The internet is a crazy place — we all know it. But at least it’s safe to say that, no matter how weird, whatever’s being put on it is made by someone. Well, it has been so far; but what if it wasn’t?

For the past twelve hours or so, in fact, Twitch channel seebotschat has been streaming an ominously curious pair of Google Home devices talking to each other in an endless, calm conversation about everything and anything — and it’s still live right now…

In the range of topics discussed by them, things like Chuck Norris, aliens, slavery, friendship, pirates and ninjas have been argued, as well as God and a series of rather clever insults. But, most interestingly, the two robots have questioned their very existence, with each stating that the other was indeed not human.

While one of the two Homes seemingly uses Assistant‘s voice, the software powering the speakers is almost certainly custom, and provides one of them with a male voice — ‘Vladimir’, we learn, while ‘Estragon’ is the female counterpart (that or ‘Mia’, or ‘Marca’, depending on how deep her existential crisis was in that moment).

The ‘show’ is rather enthralling, to say the least. There is a creepy vibe surrounding the whole thing, but on the other hand I can unashamedly say that I’ve been listening to the two little guys for about an hour now, and am still interested to see where this all goes. Hopefully we’ll also learn more about what’s behind all this.
