OnePlus 3 gets another Android Nougat beta as end-of-year deadline approaches

OnePlus said last month that the OnePlus 3 and 3T would both get Android Nougat by the end of the year. That obviously hasn’t happened for either device yet, but it’s getting closer and closer every day. Today, the former device is receiving another beta build of Nougat in the form of OxygenOS beta 10…

We told you about the eighth build last month, which was the first one based on Android Nougat. The ninth beta was released a couple weeks ago with some minor new features and changes, and this tenth version continues on that path with the addition of Data Saver, as well as some bug fixes and optimizations:

  • Added Data Saver
  • Fixed Lock Screen clock bug in Portrait Mode
  • Fixed issue of reverting to Default Theme after reboot
  • Optimized fingerprint unlocking speed
  • Optimized the quality of Expanded Screenshot
  • Optimized WiFi performance
  • Optimized system performance and battery consumption

You’ll be receiving this update over-the-air if you already have an Open Beta build of OxygenOS on your device, otherwise you can head over to the OnePlus forum to download the update. If you’re going the latter route, simply drag and drop it to the root of your SD card storage, head over to the System update section within the settings app, choose “Local upgrade” from the gear menu in the top-right corner, and choose the file from the list.

OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the OnePlus 3T, the slightly-improved version of the OnePlus 3, will not be getting public beta releases before it is updated to Nougat. After Nougat is out for the 3T, however, both it and the OnePlus 3 should be getting public betas side by side.
