Huawei has sold 9 million Huawei P9 smartphones in just 8 months

Huawei just launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Mate 9. As impressive as it is, the Huawei P9 from earlier this year is still an awesome option, and its popularity speaks for itself. Since launch, 9 million Huawei P9 units have been sold.

The Huawei P9 was first launched back in April of this year and went on to sell well in the many international markets that the company released it in. Even without a US debut, the P9 has sold incredibly well in those markets, selling 6 million between April and September, then 3 million more in the past three months alone.

It shouldn’t be surprising by any means that the P9 has sold well; it’s a fantastic and very capable device. Its dual-camera system is capable of taking fantastic images, the design is nothing short of beautiful — especially in those recently announced red and blue options.

As Huawei puts a target on the #2 spot in the smartphone market, sales figures like this are only going to help the company achieve that goal. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if Huawei was able to surpass 10 million P9 units sold by the end of 2016, especially with just over a month and a half to go.

Of course, the P9 will face competition within its own family with the Mate 9 starting to release worldwide over the coming weeks, and eventually in the United States.
