Google launches new ‘Safe Browsing’ website for users and developers alike

As if protecting Chrome users from phishing and malware wasn’t enough, Google has today launched an entirely new “Safe Browsing” website that outlines the company’s policies, provides helpful documentation for webmasters, and provides access to the Safe Browsing APIs for developers…

Per the Google Security Blog:

Today, we’re happy to announce a new site for Safe Browsing that makes it easier for users to quickly report malicious sites, access our developer documentation, and find our policies. Our new site also serves as a central hub for our tools, including the Transparency Report, Search Console, and Safe Browsing Alerts for Network Administrators.

None of the information that this site hosts is really new, but it’s nice to have it all in one place. Whether you’re a web user looking to learn more about how to protect yourself on line, or a developer wanting to make sure that your website doesn’t accidentally trip Google’s phishing detection, more awareness about how we can all stay safe on the web is undeniably a good thing.

“Google Safe Browsing helps protect over two billion devices every day by showing warnings to users when they attempt to navigate to dangerous sites or download dangerous files,” Google says.
