HTC announces the Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle

At this morning’s “Be Edgier” event, HTC took the wraps off of two new mid-tier devices: the Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle. The Desire line has consisted of affordable devices that play on their flagship’s general appearance but with fewer premium materials and lower specs. With the Desire 10 Pro and Lifestyle, it looks like HTC just might be trying to step up their game…

When HTC designed the Desire 10 Pro and Lifestyle, they wanted to make the handset stand out. To do this, they made all antenna lines and hardware accents a gold color. This, along with the premium looking plastic materials that make up the body, results in the phones looking much more like a flagship device.

While the Desire 10 Pro and Lifestyle share a similar look, there are a decent amount of differences when it comes to each phone’s internal hardware. The Desire 10 Lifestyle will be running a 5.5-inch 720p resolution display while the Pro will be running a 1080p screen of the same size. Internally, the Lifestyle will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and the Pro will have the MediaTek Helio P10 chipset.

With Android 6.0 running HTC Sense, lower screen resolutions, and less powerful chipsets, the battery life should hopefully be better than the average Android device. The Desire 10 Pro will have a 3000 mAh battery while the Lifestyle will be rocking a 2700 mAh battery.

Another difference is the camera in both Desire 10 devices. The Lifestyle will be shooting with a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The Pro has a 20MP main camera, laser autofocus, and a much larger 13MP front-facing camera. There doesn’t seem to be optical image stabilization on either device so videos might be a bit shaky and low-light image quality might be affected.

Between the two Desire 10 devices, only the Pro version will come equipped with a fingerprint scanner. Additionally, the Pro will be available in either 32GB or 64GB of storage with 3GB or 4GB of RAM, respectively, and the Lifestyle will have 16GB or 32GB storage options and 2GB or 3GB of RAM, respectively. If that isn’t enough storage, both Desire 10 phones do have a MicroSD card slot and can accept up to 2TB of additional storage.

If you are looking to pick up either of the Desire 10 phones, the Lifestyle will be launching in the U.K. this month for £249 and in other European countries for under £300. Currently, there is no pricing information for the Pro, but it is supposed to launch sometime in November. Unfortunately, neither of the Desire 10 variants will be coming to the U.S.
