Moto Z Play ditches metal for glass in new leaked images [Gallery]

After the fairly well-received launch of the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, Motorola/Lenovo are rumored to bring yet another Moto Z variant to the table with the Moto Z Play. This third, mid-range option would allegedly downgrade the specifications just a bit while retaining the same premium materials and compatibility with Moto Mods. We haven’t seen too much regarding the phone, but this week a new set of images has given us our best look yet.

These new images, brought to us by the owner of @OnLeaks, shows off the same basic design language as the standard Moto Z, just with a full glass panel on the back instead of metal. This is certainly an interesting design choice seeing that Moto has never opted for a full glass panel on the back, but seeing all the other devices that do it, we shouldn’t be surprised.

Along with the glass, we notice the same massive camera hump and pin connectors on this device as we see on the standard variants. This, of course, implies that this phone will indeed be compatible with various Moto Mods, just like both other variants.

It’s unclear when Lenovo will make the Moto Z Play official, but when it does arrive we can probably expect slightly trimmed specifications including a 1080p display, Snapdragon 625, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and a larger battery. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also rumored to appear on this device, but that is unconfirmed.
