Inbox is now enabled by default for Education and Non-profit Google Apps customers

Launched in 2014 and frequently updated with new features, Inbox by Gmail is Google’s smarter take on email. As of last year, all personal Google Accounts gained access to the app. Starting today, Inbox is now available by default for Education and Non-profit domains.

Last year, Google App customers could sign-up for an Early Adopter program to gain access to Inbox. Now, Education and Non-profit domains have the service enabled by default on all their accounts. Unless your administrator disabled automatic opt-in to new services, going to the Inbox site will setup the app.

Google’s Support page notes that Data Located Customers still do not have access to Inbox, but this is a step closer towards a wider rollout. Inbox has received continual updates over the past year that have added many productivity features. Most recently, Inbox gained new Google Alerts and Drive integrations, as well as Trello and Github project updates.

Inbox excels at highlighting important information from messages and presents it to users in a quick glancable manner. It also just added a Pocket-like feature to save links to read later. The web app is now on par with its Gmail counterpart and the Inbox Android and iOS apps are quite good.
