Alcatel IDOL 4 goes on sale August 5th for $200 at Cricket Wireless, free VR headset

After debuting the IDOL 4S last week, Alcatel has just announced that the less-expensive IDOL 4 will go on sale starting August 5th at Cricket Wireless for $199. The IDOL 4 will be a carrier exclusive for Cricket although unlocked sales should be coming soon.

Just like the IDOL 4S, the IDOL 4 packs a metal/glass design, multi-directional speakers, and a VR headset built into the device’s packaging.

To achieve a lower price point, the IDOL 4 uses a smaller 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, an octa-core chipset from Qualcomm, and 13MP/5MP cameras. The IDOL 4 also runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, comes with 16GB of storage w/ a microSD card slot, and a 2,610 mAh battery.

The Alcatel IDOL™ 4, the first Android smartphone packaged and sold with virtual reality (VR) goggles included, is coming exclusively to Cricket Wireless. Starting Aug. 5, get the IDOL 4 for $199.99 plus tax, with activation on a smartphone plan. No annual contracts. And it works on Cricket’s great, big network that covers more than 99% of Americans.

The IDOL 4 will be available with all of Cricket’s wireless plans which start at just $35/month.
