ASUS publishes release notes for ZenWatch 2 Android Wear 1.5 update

Google has shared official details about Android Wear 1.5 a couple weeks ago, and since it has rolled out to the majority of Android Wear watches. Mainly, this is a maintenance and stability update that focuses on improving system health. Now, like Motorola and Samsung did earlier this month, Asus has released a changelog of specific fixes for the ZenWatch 2.

For all watches, Android Wear 1.5 returns the restart button to the settings menu and now shows the Android security patch date in the About screen. Both ZenWatch 2 devices are updated to the latest May 2016 update that fixes security vulnerabilities.

This update improves the quality of the display,  connection stability with the phone, and sleep tracking. It also enables peek cards on the default ASUS watch face. Notifications will continue to always be shown in normal and ambient modes.

The rollout began yesterday with watches getting updated to version MWD59,MWD48B. ASUS notes that users should have a strong internet connection before starting and that the phone and watch should be kept near each other during the update.

The full changelog is below:

  1. Improve the quality of display
  2. Improve the stability of connection
  3. Fix security vulnerabilities ( Update to May 2016 of Android Security Bulletins )
  4. Improve sleep tracking
  5. Peek card is set to enabled in ASUS default watch face. Notification will be always shown in normal and ambient modes
