Leaked Galaxy Unpacked invite points to Galaxy Note 7/Edge announcement on August 2nd

A number of leaks and renders in the past few weeks have revealed a great deal about Samsung’s next generation phablet. Now, a leaked invitation (via SamMobile) points to a Galaxy Unpacked event on August 2nd and alludes to a Galaxy Note 7, as well as an Edge variant.

Assuming this image is legitimate, the event will start at 11 AM EST on August 2 and will be live streamed on YouTube as usual. In addition to the invitation featuring a design that could be interpreted as multiple sevens, the tagline is “The next edge is just around the corner.” This lends more credence to speculation that Samsung will jump in naming to the Galaxy Note 7 in order to have parity with its flagship product line. Additionally, the tagline points to an Edge variant for the Note 7.

Likely specs include a 5.8-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 823 for the US market or a Exynos 8890 for international customers, 6GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for expansion. A large 4,000mAh battery is rumored with Samsung likely using the same sensor found in the Galaxy S7 or possibly adopting a dual-camera setup. The Edge will likely have similar specs and a slightly larger screen with curved edges.

A previous rumor points to the Galaxy Note 7 launching in the US on the week of August 15th. Samsung usually releases devices within weeks of their events, thus lending more credibility to this invitation.
