Google Admin app for Android updated w/ full mobile device management features

Mobile first is a frequent buzz phrase for newly minted startups and for the most part it is easy for them to achieve. However, for legacy companies with products designed for the web, it is often harder to cram functionality and information on a smaller screen. With that in mind, the Google for Work Admin app for Android has been updated with mobile device management features previously restricted to the full web app.

The Google Admin app is meant for super administrators of Google for Work products, like Education and Government. Today’s update allows them to “view a list of [their] domain’s managed devices and to activate, block, delete, or wipe them.” Devices include both phones and tablet running Android or iOS.

For the most part, the app now has feature parity with the website, with Google noting “because many of these actions may impact the security of your organization’s data, it’s important to be able to perform them anywhere, anytime.” The app also adopts various Material Design flourishes and has a tablet design that actually fits the list-heavy contents of the app.

The latest version has a new feature that stores app preferences in the cloud for easier reinstall or setup on a new device. And lastly, several issues related to app crashes and minor UI elements have been fixed.
