PSA: Google has made phone calls to Belgium and Turkey free on Hangouts

In light of today’s appalling events in Brussels, as well as recent violence in Turkey, Google is offering free calls using Hangouts and Google Voice to the two countries. The company has done the same after similar events in France and is rolling out additional emergency resources via Google Now and Search to those in Brussels.

Calls placed via Hangouts or Google Voice to Belgium or Turkey will be free. Specifically, this applies to all calls to Turkish landlines, as well as those on Belgium’s biggest mobile carriers: Lycamobile, Mobistar, Proximus, and Telenet. For those in Brussels, Google has been publishing Now cards with transit updates and links to the Government Crisis Center.

You can head over to the Play Store or the App Store to grab the free apps, or head to hangouts.google.com to make free international calls straight from your browser.
