Leak suggests Huawei P9 launch event will take place on April 6

Following a recent rumor that Huawei would launch the P9 on April 9th, an image has leaked out suggesting that the smartphone will make its first public appearance in London on April 6th. That’s three days earlier than Evan Blass suggested it would be, but still very much in line with the launch timeframe of last year’s Huawei P8.

The invitation, leaked by Tech2.hu, is simple. With the ‘change the way you see the world’ strap line clearly indicating that a camera change is incoming, and the “#OO” right at the top of the page it seemingly corroborates rumors of a dual camera-equipped device.

Huawei’s P8 range last year was one of the biggest efforts ever made by the Chinese manufacturer to make its own brand presence known in international markets. 12 months, a smartwatch and a Nexus launch later, and it’s safe to say that its mission to hit the big time outside Chinese borders has been a success. That means the Huawei P9 launch is taking place against a completely different backdrop, and will need to work harder to impress.

The Huawei P9 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display and be launched alongside three other P9-series devices. The P9 Lite and P9 Max are the ‘Little and Large’ of the family, and the P9 Premium is claimed to be a more powerful version of the P9.

While both the P9 and P9 premium are rumored to feature the same size and resolution display, they will differ in terms of processor power, available RAM and storage capacity. The P9 is likely to feature the Kirin 950 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while the P9 Premium is rumored to have the Kirin 955 chipset onboard with 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.
