Inbox by Gmail adds a much-needed fullscreen compose window

Since its launch two years ago, Inbox has gotten more powerful and added legacy features from Gmail while remaining simple and smart. A minor update today adds the much-needed ability to expand the compose window on the web.

The expand to fullscreen button is now live for all users of Inbox and a feature that Gmail added long ago. The fullscreen view takes up a majority of the screen, though it is not resizable or movable. If a user last had the compose window open at fullscreen, Inbox will remember that setting.

All Inbox needs now to have feature parity with web Gmail is quick access to Google Drive. In Gmail, users can use browse the contents of their Drive and use it to send large attachments as a link to Drive. Otherwise, Inbox has a superior photo picker that taps into Google Photos and recently sent and received images.

On the mobile front, Gmail recently added a nifty feature to allow Outlook or other third-party email accounts to gain the benefits of Gmail while keeping their current address. All email users can have access to smart labeling and see Google Now cards based on their messages.
