Moto X Pure Edition and Style receive February security patch

While monthly security patches are normal for Nexus, HTC, and even Samsung devices, Motorola has been particularly absent from the pledge taken by other OEMs. However, Motorola might finally be participating. A security update is rolling out this evening to the Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X Style.

February is almost over, but better late than never. According to Motorola’s release notes, past Google security patches up to and including this month’s are in the update. The 6MB update also fixes a moderate security bug specific to Motorola devices. It’s highly unlikely there will be any other changes as both devices are still on Android 6.0 after the update.

Motorola now has a dedicated page for security updates on their support site, with February’s patch being their first entry. Hopefully, other current phones, like the Moto G, will get these updates shortly and that Motorola will be continuing with them.
