February security patch for Nexus devices and Pixel C rolling out, factory images now available

Google has just posted the new factory images with February’s security patch for Nexus devices. The images are still based on Android 6.0.1, so don’t expect anything besides security fixes. There’s also a new factory image for the Pixel C…

The February security bulletin lists fixes for 10 security bugs found by the Android and Chrome security teams and other independent researchers. The severity of the bugs ranges from moderate to critical. A majority of the vulnerabilities deal with Wi-Fi drivers that would allow remote code execution, though Google notes that there are no reports of customers who have been affected by these issues.

It took about a week for last month’s update to start rolling out. Those who don’t want to wait for the OTA can download the factory images below:

For most users, this is not worth the hassle and waiting for the OTA would be the wiser option. OEMs like HTC, Samsung, and NVIDIA have rolled out updates with last month’s security patch.
