Android 6.0 Marshmallow now rolling out for Moto X Pure, soak tests for X Play and X Force

Moto X Pure owners, rejoice! If you’re in the US and have the new 2015 Pure Edition running on Sprint, Verizon or US Cellular, you should find Android 6.0 Marshmallow landing on your phone relatively soon. David Schuster announced on Google Plus yesterday evening that the full rollout for those devices has begun…

This news comes just a few days after the soak tests started for Moto X users, and continues Motorola’s tradition of keeping its almost-stock Android phones up to date. As with last year, Moto having an almost stock version of Android onboard means the company can get new software out to its customers sooner than most other OEMs. Apart from the accidental Note 4 update, and a faltering LG G4 software release in Poland, no other manufacturer has started its Marshmallow rollout.

Schuster also stated that soak tests are beginning for the Moto X Play in Brazil and India, as well as the Moto X Force in Brazil, suggesting full software rollouts could begin for those devices within the next couple of weeks.

Software-wise, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is bringing an even more vanilla experience of the operating system to Motorola customers. Back when it announced its plans for Marshmallow support, Motorola confirmed that some of its unique software features will be disappearing. Moto Assist and Moto Migrate will be removed since Marshmallow contains very similar features as standard.

If you haven’t yet received a notification alerting you to a new version of software, you can check manually by heading in to settings, in to the ‘about phone’ window and checking for software updates. It should appear over the coming days.
