Some Nexus 5X owners experiencing unresponsive touch screens while charging

Not a single phone manages to escape odd glitches and bugs at some point in its lifetime, and now it looks like it’s the Nexus 5X’s turn for a “gate”. I’ve told you about (what I believe to be) inexcusable performance issues, and now it seems many users are having another problem: unresponsive touch screens while the device is charging…

Several Reddit threads are full of Nexus 5X owners reporting the issue:

hey guys, my nexus 5x´s touchscreen becomes less responsive while charging with the original charger. It´s most noticable while typing fast. Does anybody have the same issue? I´m using a UK charger with an EU plug adapter. Could this be the problem? Other chargers wich are older and much slower don´t cause this.

Even with the included charger and cable, the 5X’s touchscreen becomes less responsive during charging. Some people have proposed that the phone isn’t well-shielded enough to cope with the 3A charging, causing disturbance to the capactive touchscreen.

I didn’t notice it at first, but it’s definitely an issue. I have to push down harder and move my finger slower, because it seems like it doesn’t consistently detect my finger if I use it normally.

Has anyone else found the scroll/swipe speed to be slow on the Nexus 5X compared to other handsets? Annoyingly, I can’t find any settings for this. The issue is global and not limited to one app. With pointer trails on, there is visible lag between my finger’s input and what happens on-screen. I’ve never seen this on any other device.

Yikes…the fact it changes with charging would make me nervous that it is a hardware defect, like bad grounding or something.

Also noticed it, and it does seem to be when charging.

Even more users are mentioning that they have this problem on Google’s official product forums.

I personally have a Nexus 5X, and I haven’t noticed the issue with my device (at least not yet). But I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out, especially considering I already have my share of gripes with this phone. Have you experienced this problem? If so, let us know in the comments below.
