Google accidentally mentions Droid Maxx 2 in Chromecast support document

Update: It’s gone.

It’s not really a matter that’s up in the air, but now the confirmation is coming straight from Google. At the time of this writing, the “Optimized devices for Android Screen casting” Chromecast support page lists the “Droid Maxx 2,” a phone that hasn’t yet been announced in any official capacity…

Even though the Droid Maxx 2 hasn’t yet been announced, it’s not likely to come with many surprises. The general consensus is that it’s simply a re-branded Moto X Play made for the US, and this Google support page seems to corroborate that. And clearly, hence the “Droid” name, the Maxx 2 will be a Verizon exclusive.

It was an entire month ago that we saw images of the device leaked in its full glory, and since this device is simply a Moto X Play for the US, it has pretty much the same specs. On board, you’ll find a Snapdragon 615 system-on-a-chip, a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 2 GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel rear camera, and a massive 3630mAh battery.

It’s only a matter of time before the Droid Maxx 2 is made official at this point, and we’ll keep you in the loop.
