Fossil Q Android Wear smartwatch teased, will be available this holiday season

Fossil, one of the world’s best-known fashion brands has teased an upcoming set of wearables which should be available by the time this year’s holiday shopping season swings by. Fossil Q is a range of connected devices made up of three separate products. There will be a connected bracelet (think Jawbone UP), a connected non-display watch (think Withings Activité) and a connected display watch (traditional touchscreen smartwatch). The latter of these three is the one we’re really interested in here, since it will run Android Wear when it hits the market later this year.

Each of the three different pieces is compatible with a companion app being launched by Fossil to allow users to track activity and movements as well as manage notifications. Very little is said about the Android Wear watch, except that it will have a round face and classic bands. Fossil states that it will prove “that a connected timepiece can be as fashionable as its integrated software is functional”. Arguably, Huawei and Motorola have done that already, but Fossil might just have the jump on the tech manufacturers when it comes to creating on-trend fashionable wrist accessories.

Fossil, of course, has the benefit of having its own-brand stores all over the globe and will be able to push its modern smartwatches to consumers shopping for jewelry, whereas most other smartwatch makers only have their wares available to buy online, or from consumer electronics stores. Fossil hasn’t said how much any of these devices will cost. It’s probably a safe bet to assume that the bracelet will be the least expensive, and the display watch will be the dearest.
