Best Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ cases already available to order

After first unveiling its new phablets five days ago, Samsung will start selling the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones this week. Some carriers will be selling it already, while others are waiting for the official August 21st release date. Chances are, you don’t want to take any risks with damaging your precious and ludicrously expensive smartphone. It may fare better than the S5 in drop tests, but it’s probably best for you not to test that, on purpose or by accident. With that in mind, check out some of the cases already announced by some of the best accessory makers around.

INCIPIO DUALPRO

Incipio’s DualPro is one of my favorite case series’ around. It’s a durable case made from two different materials. There’s a hard, thin plastic outer shell and a rubbery, flexible inner case. It’s impact resistant, looks good and feels good in hand. What’s more, it’s available in a handful of different colors.

Galaxy Note 5 – $29.99
Galaxy S6 Edge+ – $29.99

SPIGEN RUGGED ARMOR

Spigen’s Rugged Armor is another favorite of mine. It’s one material, finished with a little glossy carbon fiber to give it an extra flourish. It’s a flexible, but very durable case, fits well and doesn’t cost the earth.

Galaxy Note 5 – $9.99
Galaxy S6 Edge+ – $9.99

SPIGEN NEO HYBRID CARBON

Spigen’s regular Neo Hybrid case is an unremarkable transparent plastic shell with a colored bumper, but the Carbon edition is something else. It looks fantastic. It might not be the most durable and protective case, but it will protect your phone from the daily bumps and scrapes of life.

Galaxy Note 5 – $16.99-$19.99
Galaxy S6 Edge+ – $16.99-$19.99

OTTERBOX COMMUTER SERIES (Note 5 only)

Otterbox makes really tough, life-proof cases. They’re bulky, but they’re virtually guaranteed to protect your phone from anything you can throw at them, or throw them at. With “Certified Drop Protection”, the Commuter Series will keep your new, shiny phablet well cushioned against life’s accidents. It’s made from two parts: Slip cover and shell cover, both of which you can customize. But, it does cost a relatively pricey $49.90. Sadly, because of the Edge+ design, there’s no Commuter for the dual-screen phone.

Galaxy Note 5 – $49.90

OTTERBOX SYMMETRY SERIES

Although the Symmetry Series makes use of two materials, unlike the Commuter, they’re fused to each other, to create one case with one part. That makes the case a lot slimmer, but still really protective. Again, still expensive. But if you want protection, Otterbox is about as reliable as it gets.

Galaxy Note 5 – $49.95
Galaxy S6 Edge+ – $49.95

VERUS HIGH PRO SHIELD

Verus’ High Pro Shield was a popular choice for the Galaxy Note 4, and looks to be another winner for the Note 5 and S6 Edge+. It costs just under $17 and is available in a number of finishes. It’s an attractive hairline-finished case and designed to protect the back, sides and front of the phone. Like some previously mentioned cases, it marries a harder plastic with a TPU/rubber material to offer impact and scratch protection.

Galaxy Note 5 – $16.99
Galaxy S6 Edge+ – $16.99

i-BLASON Armorbox (Note 5 only)

The i-BLASON Armorbox is essentially the poor-man’s Otterbox case. It’s designed to be rugged, offer full protection, but doesn’t cost much. Fit and finish will leave a little to be desired, but the protection for the initial outlay is decent value for money. What’s more, it’s available in black, green, blue, pink and white.

Galaxy Note 5 – From $12.99
