Everything points to a March 12th launch date for the Verizon Nexus 6

It’s been a long time coming for the Verizon Nexus 6, but several new pieces of information that popped up this morning and over the weekend (including a quote straight from a Verizon customer service representative) suggest that the device should be seeing a public launch—at least via Internet sales channels—on March 12th. We now have some information on pricing as well, and it looks like the device might just be shipping with Android 5.1 on the Big Red…

The story of the Verizon Nexus 6 has been a long one, with the company (accidentally?) putting up a banner on its site in early February saying that the Nexus 6 was “coming soon.” A few leaks followed, showing some internal Verizon slides that touted a February 26th launch date (and that obviously didn’t happen). And now, here we are today, with another leaked image in our hands and word that’s supposedly straight from an online Verizon chat representative that the launch is indeed happening on March 12th.

The first piece of evidence was a reddit (sic) post this morning, showing what looks to be an internal memo of some kind saying that the Nexus 6 is prepping for launch on 3/12 “via web and direct fulfillment,” and then followed by a launch on 3/19 via “all channels” (which presumably includes retail).

Here’s the image:

Secondly, PhoneArena received a tip this morning that a Verizon customer service rep had actually confirmed these dates, saying “The Nexus 6 will be launching on March 12th online and then a week from then on the 19th in all stores.” This lines up perfectly with what we’re reading in the above leaked information, so it appears we might finally have a good idea of when Google’s flagship Nexus is coming to the-only-carrier-that’s-still-greyed-out-on-Google’s-website (almost 5 months after it was released in Google Play).

Even more information (via Phandroid) that has been making the rounds over the last few days suggests that the device is likely going to be shipping with Android 5.1, the next version of Lollipop that Google is expected to release any day now for Nexus devices. And a person that’s supposedly in the know says that the Nexus 6 will cost $249 on a 2-year contract, or $29.16 per month for those that go with Verizon’s Edge plan. This all sounds great, but don’t forget that the device is all-but-surely going to sport a huge Verizon logo on its back side.

At this point, we’ll believe the March 12th launch date when we see it.
