Verizon launches Samsung Galaxy Note Edge for $399 w/ advanced calling features

We’ve seen several new Android phones debut at CES 2015 from Asus, LGLenovo, and Verizon announced today availability for one of the more interesting smartphones announced in 2014 with its launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. First announced by Samsung in September of last year, the Galaxy Note Edge features a 5.6-inch quad HD super AMOLED display with a dramatic curve alongside the right of the phone for displaying notifications, controls, app icons, and more. Check out our hands-on video for the Galaxy Note Edge and read on for Verizon availability details.Available both online and in stores, Verizon offers the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge in black with 32GB of internal storage for $399.99 on contract. As many early reviews mentioned, that’s a premium price tag for a phone with similar specs due to the curved edge feature. Verizon also offers the Note Edge for $33.33/month on its aptly named Verizon EDGE financing program and $799.99 without a contract.

In addition to featuring the unique curved display edge, Verizon also says the Note Edge is its first phone to include Advanced Calling capabilities. Verizon’s Advanced Calling feature enables VoLTE, or Voice over LTE, enabling high definition audio and video calls between other compatible Verizon smartphones.

Verizon’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat for now, and features a 3000mAh battery with a 16MP camera, LTE connectivity, and Samsung’s S Pen stylus. Does the $100 premium over the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 make it worth the curve for you?
