LG-made 3G smartwatch passes through the FCC

LG appears to be working on a new smartwatch, according to a set of recently discovered FCC documents. While it’s unclear if this device will run Google’s Android Wear operating system, the filing revealed that it will feature support for CMDA 3G network connectivity, meaning that it won’t necessarily need to be tethered to a smartphone for a data connection, however 3G isn’t exactly blazing fast.

Lurking within the South Korean electronics maker’s documents are images of an oval shaped watch face referred to as the LG-VC100, but not much else is mentioned about the device’s hardware. Its CDMA 3G compatibility points to Sprint and Verizon in the US, however it’s possible that a GSM variant is in the works as well.

Keeping in mind that LG’s G Watch R still doesn’t have an official release date yet, there’s a good chance that the company will take its time with the development of the LG-VC100.
