OnePlus cancels StyleSwap covers due to production issues

Remember those StyleSwap covers that OnePlus announced a couple of months ago? You know, the ones that were supposed to go on sale last month? Unfortunately, the young company ran into some production issues that have resulted in the cancellation of the product as a whole.

“Ultimately, we made the very hard choice to stop production of StyleSwap covers for the OnePlus One,”a company spokesperson wrote in a blog post today. “We simply aren’t comfortable mass releasing a product that does not offer the best user experience.” OnePlus says it managed to produce a “small number” of bamboo StyleSwap covers and that it plans on selling the defunct accessory, along with instructions on how to replace it without damaging your phone.

The company also stated that it’s entertaining the idea of releasing a special edition OnePlus One with a Kevlar or denim backing and that it would keep consumers posted. While that may sound stylish to some, we’ll just be happy when we can purchase the elusive smartphone without the need of an invite.
