The Minuum keyboard has already been announced to be in development for the Moto 360, but today the company demoed its keyboard actually running on another Android Wear device — the LG G Watch. Last time we only got a concept, but now we have a real-time video demo of a slick — albeit (intentionally?) cramped — keyboard running on Android Wear. And Minuum says they’re ready to send out its earliest release.

While many are definitely skeptical of the practicality of a keyboard on a smartwatch, Minuum says that they completely understand where the critics are coming from. But their software, they say, is actually similar to voice commands in that it “is uniquely suited to taking advantage of natural language patterns.” Basically, Minuum thinks that it might make sense because the keyboard was built with sloppy, inaccurate typing in mind.

We’ve had oodles of requests for Minuum on Android Wear smart watches – everyone’s looking for a way to quickly reply to messages on their wrist without having to rely on voice typing. While there aren’t yet many apps on Android Wear built with text fields available for typing, we’re working on changing this – sign up at to stay updated.

There aren’t many — if any — Android Wear apps that actually have text fields yet, but Minuum says it’s ready to start sending out the earliest version of the Minuum keyboard for the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. Head over to to stay updated on the status of the keyboard, but doing so comes with some perks as well. Minuum says that if you do, they’ll “send you installation instructions straight away so that you can try out an early version.”
