Google Play Games updated w/ level-up notifications, interface tweaks, more

Google last night started rolling out an update to Google Play Games that bumped the app to version 2.0. The update includes several new features, some of which were confirmed in the recent Google Play Services 5.0 update, as well. The update today introduces Level-up notification controls, XP rankings, and a few UI tweaks.

First off, the update introduces Level-up notifications, which means that users have the ability to easily see when they reach a new level in a game. The update also adds a new card on the “Play Now” screen that shows users their XP level and how much more XP they need to reach a new level.

Finally, the inbox interface has been tweaked and now includes separate tabs for invitations, quests, and gifts. The “My Games” screen has also been tweaked, with the update rearranging the order of the tabs and redesigning the “All My Games” tab. Last but not least, the “Players” screen now shows other players’ levels and uses much larger cards.

The update is rolling out to devices now, but is a staged rollout, so it could take a few days to hit your device.
