Spotify for Android updated with new interface, ‘Your Music’ feature

Earlier this month, Spotify updated its iOS app with a totally new, darker-themed interface. This, of course, left Android users in the dark and stuck with an older design. Today, however, Spotify has announced that its Android app has been updated with the redesigned interface.

The new interface features a darker theme with refreshed typography and rounded pictures and album art. The design is nearly identical to that found on iOS and the Spotify desktop app.

In addition to the new interface, this update also introduces the new “Your Music” functionality. Spotify originally forced you to organize your music in messy playlists. The Your Music functionality, however, allows you to essentially create a library of music like in Google Play Music.

We’re not only improving our interface though. We know how much you love playlists, but that you’ve been looking for more ways to organise your favourite songs, albums and playlists. So over the past weeks we’ve rolled out Your Music: a feature that will help you save, organise and browse your favourite tunes.

Finally, the update also improves the Browse feature within the app. You can now choose from a variety of preset playlists right from the home screen of the app. Some of the playlists include most popular tracks, songs to fall asleep to, and many more.

The new update will begin rolling out to Android users today, but will not reach all devices until the “coming weeks”.
