Google today announced some updates to its Google Play for Education program that launched back in November. The program gets Android and Chromebook devices into classrooms and offers a special curated version of Google Play as well as tools for teachers to distribute apps and manage devices. It originally launched with support for just three tablets, but Google announced today that its partners will soon be launching new devices for students. The devices include a new Galaxy Tab just announced by Samsung and a couple of new Chromebooks from Lenovo and Toshiba

Samsung issued its own press release announcing a 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab designed specifically for students that will come loaded with Android 4.4, Samsung’s own education related apps, and Google Play for Education. Samsung doesn’t cover specs in its press release, but we imagine its much the same as its current 10.1 Galaxy Tab apart from preloaded content. The new tablet will arrive in April but no word on pricing.

Lenovo too announced new Chromebooks coming for the education market including the 11.6-inch ThinkPad Yoga 11e Chromebook and ThinkPad 11e Chromebook starting at $349. Lenovo made a point of noting that the new devices include “rubber bumpers, reinforced ports, and stronger hinges” to protect from wear and tear in the classroom. Both new models will become available this spring.

Finally, Toshiba’s new 13-inch Chromebook that we first spotted at CES will also be offered to education customers in the Google Play for Education program. It’s currently selling through Google for $279.
