Samsung updating Galaxy Gear with better notifications this week

While the debate still rages about just how many units Samsung has actually sold of the Galaxy Gear, software updates are coming this week. According to a brief Engadget report, Samsung has heard the complaints about the lack of notification support and will push updates this week to help rectify the matter.

Samsung is said to be pushing an update that will allow third-party app notifications allowing you to read incoming Gmail messages, Facebook Messenger messages, Twitter mentions, Google Hangout messages and more.

Samsung will also add more enhancements including Smart Relay functionality. Samsung says this will help users “perform actions seamlessly” from the Gear to their device, as well as improvements to the lift-and-pause movement that activates the clock. There’s also a good chance that any update will include some “bug fixes.”

Needless to say, we’re happy to see that Samsung is working to improve the Galaxy Gear in a big way and given that a brand new competitor is already priced too high…Samsung has plenty of ammunition to continue pushing the Gear to the masses.
