Rockstar announces GTA San Andreas coming to ‘select’ Android devices in December

Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is coming to mobile platforms next month. Following on from Vice City (also available on Android), San Andreas is the third 3D instalment in the 3D GTA franchise.

The game was originally released in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. Rockstar says the mobile port will include new contextual touch controls and three different driving control mechanisms. Graphically, the game will contain visual upgrades such as detailed dynamic shadows, a wider palette of colours and greater draw distance. It will also have “full controller support”, which is good news for people looking for more serious gaming experiences on their Android devices.

Information on device compatibility is currently sketchy. In the announcement, Rockstar says that the game will be available for “select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows mobile devices”. It is unspecified what particular hardware and software requirements will be in place, but Rockstar says more information will be released in the next few weeks.
