Project Fi adds group plans for $15 per month/user, discounts Nexus 5X and 6P

First revealed in an app teardown, Group Plans are now available in Project Fi. Up to five people can be added to a plan for $15 per month with each receiving their own number. As a promotion, Nexus 5X and 6P devices bought and activated through Fi are being discounted.

For $15, each member receives their own number with unlimited calling and texting. Data is still $10 per GB with leftover data credited back at the end of the month. Billing-wise, the account manager will receive a bill that includes all other members.

Google’s MNVO recently added US Cellular to provide more coverage stateside and partnered with Three for faster overseas service. All group plan users have the same access to international pricing and free Wi-Fi tethering.

An updated version of the Fi app is rolling out with features to manage group plans. Members can be added and removed directly from the app with the ability to monitor individual data usage. The manager of the account can set monthly data amounts and temporarily halt service for certain users. Each member also has the ability to set their own notifications about data usage.

As Project Fi has done in the past, the Nexus 5X and 6P are being discounted to mark the new group plans. The smaller device is discounted $100 and starts at $199 while the 6P is $100 off for all models. Unfortunately, the discounts do not apply to the new Pixel devices.
